To ensure that everyone, from beginners to seasoned cyclists, can enjoy cycle tourism, we’ve selected four recommended ride courses that allow you to fully experience Unzen-Amakusa National Park.

Cherry blossom spring ride

This is a wide-ranging sightseeing course that will appeal to cyclists. It’s especially recommended in spring as you can visit famous cherry blossom viewing spots.

Ancient Trip Ride ① [Tanazoko Port Edition]

Let’s head to Tanazoko Port, one of the bases for the regular ferry service to Goshoura Island, the island of dinosaurs!

Ancient Trip Ride ② [Goshoura Edition]

Once you arrive at Goshoura, the island of dinosaurs, rent a bicycle and explore the ancient ruins. From the Ammonite Museum to the Sphenoceramus Wall, it’s like an ancient museum floating on the sea!

Earth’s Breath Georide ① [Unzen-Shimabara Edition]

From Kumamoto Port, take a ferry to Shimabara Port. Explore Unzen Hell, where the earth’s breath erupts, and then take a ferry from Kuchinotsu Port to Amakusa’s Oniike Port.

Earth’s Breath Georide ② [Amakusa Edition]

After taking a ferry from Kuchinotsu Port to Oniike Port, enjoy a georide along Amakusa’s beautiful coastline. Take in the stunning rock formations and unique shapes of the coastline.
